"A fusion of the classic and the modern" is how the brothers Guy and Yvon Rautureau describe the look of their luxurious men’s shoe line Jean-Baptiste Rautureau – or JBR for short. The Rautureau family hails from the Vendée in western France. They have been making shoes as long as since 1870 and are also known for their women’s label Free Lance.

JBR is considered a secret tip-off for those in the know serving a small but sophisticated customer base with classic through to avantgarde tastes. Recommended retail prices stand at between Euro 400 and Euro 650. Correspondingly exquisite are the materials and the finish of these – naturally – welt-sewn shoes. Now already socially accepted, the biker styles enjoy cult status amongst connoisseurs and the special kick with classic lace-ups often lies with little modifications like heels that are 1.5 cm thick, just a tick higher than normal.

"JBR customers are young, successful men who want a modern shoe with a perfect fit and top quality," says Wolfgang Dünkelberg, owner of the Düsseldorf Fashion Business agency responsible for sales in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.
