Repetto
Happy Birthday Repetto: Sixty, stylish, hip!
The French company Repetto turns 60 this year. And the loveliest gift they could wish for: the label has become incredibly trendy of late. Based in Paris Repetto is considered the leading manufacturer of shoes for professional dance sports and ballet worldwide and has also long become an established fashion brand. Its street footwear obtained cult status as early as the 60s. Singer, composer and author Serge Gainsbourg was a big fan of their Zizi Homme style while actress Brigitte Bardot used to wear their classic BBs. The continuing "ballerina boom" was triggered only recently by star model Kate Moss after she was photographed wearing Repettos in soft leather. However, their heeled shoes are successful, too. Classic "ballroom" dancing is heralding a comeback at all ages and elegant looks are not only up and coming on the dance floor: good prospects for Repetto.
The sophistication of the fashion styles lies in the authentic translation of dance styles for everyday use. A patented manufacturing technology makes for the typical, refined almost fragile look here. Shoes are sewn inside and then turned inside out. Their soles look sheer from outside but measure up to 5 mm in thickness thereby ensuring excellent wear properties for the street. The finish is exquisite with many details still made by hand.
What will the 2008/09 Autumn/Winter season bring? New will be the clearly enhanced range of styles with heels and platform soles – inspired by tango, salsa, samba and the like. Ballerinas will continue to feature in a wide variety including styles in peach-soft suede and nappa, Lurex, patent, fur and fabric. Soles are flat with little heels or they are spliced around the heel. A small men’s line round off the range.
Distribution in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland is in the hands of the Düsseldorf Agency Fashion Business by Wolfgang Dünkelberg. Only top stores are supplied and recommended retail prices start from EUR 139.
