Pollini

Modern retrospective

The Italian company Pollini produces luxury shoes, bags, leather articles and accessories for ladies and gentlemen. In designing the 2008/2009 Autumn/Winter collection the company is drawing on its own history, inspired by the classics of the 70s, and translating the retro-look to today in a modern and contemporary approach.

The forms and designs are gently pointed, soles, which are more curvaceous in traditional shoe craftsman’s-style, ensure improved stability and positioning. Typical of the 70s is the particularly diverse application of materials. Embossed features are important, strong calfskin with a gloss – so-called Safiano – ensures a rich, attractive look, soft shiny patent leathers convey an almost transparent impression, crocodile leather finds application as a high-gloss version, while shimmering, polished, smooth leathers are combined with suede and matt surfaces. Effective decorative elements are provided by metal inlays, individually designed buckles, blossom applications in leather and patent, coarse stitching and macro-threads. The recommended retail prices for Pollini ladies’ shoes are 250 to 700 Euro. The models in the younger Studio Pollini range start at approx. 180 to 500 Euro. The men’s shoes cost between 250 and 500 Euro.

The company can look back on a long tradition: Romeo and Domenico Pollini founded their handicrafts company at the end of the 19th century in San Mauro, the centre of Italian leather goods production. They placed their faith in exquisite craftsman’s art and select materials, and to this day the company has for the most part remained loyal to these aspects despite industrialization. The first themed collections under the Pollini label already emerged towards the end of the 60s, for example the Daytona sports shoe line, which was inspired by motorcycle sport. The worldwide presentation followed in the 70s via international trade fairs and own stores in fashion centres. At the end of the 80s collaborations were launched with renowned fashion designers, and following a long cooperation, in 2001 the Italian Holding AEFFE acquired a 72-percent stake in Pollini. The AEFFE portfolio includes among others the luxury brands Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Gaultier and Narciso Rodriguez.

Sales and marketing for the Pollini brand in Germany/Austria/Switzerland is handled by the Collectionen Christian Teufl general agency with showrooms in Salzburg, Munich and Düsseldorf, telephone:++49(0)89-309053670, www.teufl.cc.
