KUHBA LIBRE: Design Attack in a Fresh Alpine Style

31/01/2007
The 6th edition of Design Attack blends the idyll of the Alpine landscape with the refreshing ingredients of a trendy cocktail staging this unusual cross-over in Hall 13 of the GDS/GLS under the ‘KUHBA LIBRE’ motto.

From 9 to 11 March 2007 the international platform for both creative young designers and already established labels will be showcasing the trends for the 2007/08 Autumn/Winter season and the immediate ranges for the coming summer. 120 Design Attack exhibitors will be presenting new and original trends in street fashion. Alongside shoes and bags it is especially urban wear, lingerie, jewellery as well as other accessories and lifestyle products that will be centre stage here. Alternative materials along with new colours and finishes will determine the styles of these young, non-conformist collections. GLS exhibitors will be presenting their current leather ware collections in compact form as they will also be incorporated into the Design Attack area.

Design Attack has successfully established itself within the themed universe of the Young Fashion segment as a section in its own right: exhibitors have already registered from Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal with labels like Airwalk, AppePazza, Beast, Ben-Simon, Bicolli, erstIch, Fogg, Grinders Grandstand, Gundi Blind, Heartwear, Jacatao, Jiboia, Karin van Noort, Komodo, Keds, Lola Cruz, Losgelöst, Monta, Naketano, null:zwo:elf, Seasurfer, Red Wing, Rocket Dog, Sperry Top-Sider, Seasurfer, Uad Medani, verfilzt & zugenäht, Wolpertinger, Yuta Pasch, Zippo Bags and many more.

"As an information and communication platform Design Attack offers international trade visitors many new impulses for their young trendy ranges. For up-and-coming young designers this area is an ideal presentation platform enabling them to forge important business contacts," said Kirstin Deutelmoser, Project Manager at GDS.

Hall Design
The trade fair stands will be styled as mountain huts with a cool black and white cowhide design, thereby contributing to the Alpine feel and providing an effective setting for the young collections. Stretching into the background behind the Alpine lodges is an idyllic, panoramic mountain landscape with bright, white snow-capped mountains. Visitors’ sporting spirit will be aroused by a large cable car. A rustic, Alpine-hut style restaurant will invite visitors to raise their glasses with Bavarian titbits and speciality beers. And the world-famous trend cocktail Cuba Libre will be served by a sponsor here at the Ice Bar, very much in tune with the motto chosen for the segment.

Event Programme
Serving as the catwalk for the refreshing, off-beat Kuhba Libre shows will be an ice rink surrounded by illuminated blocks of ice. Both models and ice skaters will parade in the spotlight here. A Bavarian band will provide great musical atmosphere at this event area during Happy Hours.

On the Saturday of the fair the big party event in Hall 2 will pick up on the main idea behind the Kuhba Libre concept. DJ sounds from Jiri Katter and his team will invite guests to celebrate and relax in the bars and chill-out zones.
