'Mambo Italiano' Party: GDS and GLS with surprising new scenery and beach sounds

As a platform for both creative newcomers and well-introduced hip labels ranging from shoes and urban wear to accessories and lingerie, Design Attack has become a fixture in the portfolio of GDS and GLS. A "limited edition” of 100 GDS exhibitors and 16 GLS exhibitors will kick off the new 2007 summer season with their topical collections under the heading ‚Mambo Italiano'. The area in Hall 13 will be themed in Italian riviera style and will instil the "dolce vita” of the 60s and 70s with new life. Azure blue beach huts with a sea view will serve as an impressive backdrop for the 5th edition of GDS Design Attack. In true style the GLS bag collections "Bagno di Flash-Bag” will be presented in retro-style shower cubicles.

International brands and commercial agents from Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and the USA have opted for Design Attack Area as an exhibition platform. Registered exhibitors include such creative brands as Rocket Dogs from Los Angeles with "cool” shoes, Made U Look by Fashionrepublic AG, Fred de la Bretonière, Fogg, Yuta Pasch Design, Moritz Wenz with bag label Flöz, Flip munich with bag label GoGo voyage from L.A., 8-Ball with the label J.FOLD from New York as well as Leonetti, Julia Kissel Design and Malou, to name but a few.

The creative mind behind this area, Eddi Mackowiak for E. M. Project, has implemented his concept for Design Attack with azure blue beach huts and other Mediterranean elements. "When putting my ideas into practice I always combine a number of stylistic elements. Mambo Italiano is a kind of retro-fusion of fashion, music and lifestyle."

The Party in Hall 5

The small cosmos of 'Mambo Italiano' also serves as theme for the great GDS and GLS Party this season. The riviera atmosphere of the 60s and 70s will be the central theme for the concept of the event on Saturday in Hall 5. Invited guests can expect cool drinks, hot beach rhythms and summery snacks - a mix of nostalgic and up-to-date elements: azure bars and chill-out zones reminiscent of the beach huts back then invite guests to endulge in Italian "dolce vita" lifestyle.

Real stamina will be required for the 'Mambo Italiano Limbo Event'. Ten international exhibitors have been selected to compete with each other in a limbo contest. The winner will be able to go home on an original Vespa scooter - then as today the symbol of Italian lifestyle.

The matching beats for the event will be provided by the Rootsreggae-band "Dubios Neighbourhood" with singer Jahcoustix, famed beyond music circles. A thrilling mix of different music styles is guaranteed to exude unadulterated holiday feelings.

Daily 'Mambo Italiano' Events in Hall 13

Just as attractive as the ranges of the brands exhibiting at this area is the event programme. Here the Italian seaside resorts will also herald a big comeback. The bridge over a period swimming pool will serve as a catwalk for the daily ‚Mambo Italiano' shows, for example. To make the scenery complete, the staging will be supported by a water ballet show. Party time is also guaranteed by the daily "Mambo Italiano Happy Hour” in Hall 13.
